Tangiers
The very name 'Tangiers' conjures up
images of mystery and intrigue. Indeed there is much to discover
in this ancient Moroccan city. Engage one of the local guides for
a few hours to visit the artisan's market, where you feel you have
walked back into another century, where the traditional crafts are
etched into the stonework, part of the furniture, woven into the
hearts of the friendly people. You will find it hard to resist the
wonderful colours and textures of the sumptuous rugs and carpets
that you will see.
Take
tea at the elegant El
Minzah Hotel where you half
expect to see Lauren Bacal or Humphrey Bogart walk in for a break
from filming 'Casablanca'.
Its clear why Marocco is still a popular
venue for film makers, the recent blockbuster 'Sahara' was
filmed in part on location in the desert further south.
A short walk from the port are long
empty beaches with veiws north across the Straits to Europe,
west across the Atlantic to the Americas and if you're dreaming
about the Carribean, talk to us, we can arrange that as well!
Ocean Viking has many Atlantic Crossings under her belt and
can't wait to sail off into the beautiful sunsets again.
